My Journey to Pregnancy

Why Calorie Awareness Isn’t Enough (And Why You Still Don’t Follow Through)

Coming off birth control is often framed as a simple transition: your period comes back, things regulate, you’re good to go.

That’s what I thought too.

My period returned immediately after stopping birth control. It showed up on time every month. Same length. Same symptoms. From the outside, everything looked “normal.”

But what I didn’t understand at the time — and what I wish someone had explained — is that regular periods do not always mean "regular" cycle.

In this episode of The SweatSimple Podcast, I’m sharing my personal fertility journey after coming off birth control and what I learned about menstrual cycle health

Whether you’re trying to conceive, tracking your cycle, or simply want to better understand your body, this episode is for you.

What “Regulating After Birth Control” Actually Means

One of the biggest misconceptions about post-birth control hormones is that getting your period back equals full recovery.

In reality, research shows it can take up to 9 months for your cycle to fully regulate after stopping hormonal birth control — and that includes:

  • Ovulation timing

  • Luteal phase length

  • Progesterone production

  • Overall hormone balance

In the full episode, I share:

  • What I wish I knew sooner about post-birth control hormones

  • Why my journey to conceiving wasn't as straight forward as I thought

  • How I navigated low progesterone levels and more!
