I’ve Significantly Reduced My Alcohol Intake — Here’s What I’ve Learned

Over the past few years, I’ve quietly decreased my alcohol intake quite a bit. I've had less than 10 drinks total in the first few months of 2025.
A lot of the times when I heard about people cutting back on drinking it was for more dramatic reasons. Ruined relationships, using it as a coping mechanism, embarrassing nights. To be honest: that isn't my story.
There was no rock bottom moment. No big dramatic turning point. Just a gradual realization that I didn’t actually like how alcohol made me feel—and that I didn’t need it as much as I thought I did.
If you can relate to having a good relationship with alcohol but being curious abut cutting back...this episode is for you!
I’m sharing my honest, personal experience with cutting back on alcohol, including:
Why I started drinking less without quitting completely
The social anxiety I thought I’d feel (and how almost no one noticed I wasn’t drinking)
What happened when I stopped drinking out of habit
The unexpected benefits of not drinking (stronger workouts, better sleep, less anxiety, more creativity—the list is long)
This isn’t an episode about alcohol and fat loss (though I’ve done that one—linked here). And it’s definitely not a “you should stop drinking” episode.
It’s simply what happened when I started to question why I was drinking in certain situations, and whether the risk (yep—alcohol is a Group 1 carcinogen) was really worth the reward.
Whether you're:
Sober curious and not sure where to start
Thinking about how to reduce your alcohol intake without going sober
Tired of feeling foggy, anxious, or disconnected after a drink
Wondering if it’s even possible to enjoy social events without alcohol
Or just want to hear a real, honest take on drinking less in your 20s and 30s…
This episode is for you. 💛
