What I’d Do Differently If I Were Starting My Fitness Journey Today

What I'd Do Differently If I Was Starting My Fitness Journey

If You Feel Like You’re Doing Everything Right but Still Not Seeing Results…

I see you. I was you.

I spent years trying to lose weight the "right" way—following every food rule I saw on Instagram, doing endless cardio, and beating myself up every time I craved mozzarella sticks on the weekend.

But no matter how “perfect” I was Monday through Friday, I’d end up feeling burnt out, unmotivated, and frustrated by Sunday night.

If you're stuck in a cycle of trying different meal plans, pushing yourself to work out 6 days a week, or feeling like you're always starting over, this episode will hit home.

Because I’m pulling back the curtain on my own fitness journey—all the mistakes I made, what I wish I had known sooner, and what I would do differently if I were starting today.

What I'd Do Differently If I Were Starting My Fitness Journey Today:

1. I Wouldn't Focus Only on Weight Loss My only goal was the number on the scale, which led me to cut out foods I loved and white-knuckle my way through hunger. I wish I had focused on how I wanted to feel instead—energized, strong, confident.

2. I Wouldn't Try To Control My Weight Loss Through Exercise I believed if I wasn’t burning 400+ calories per workout, it “didn’t count.” I’d cram in cardio, finish every strength session with HIIT, and wonder why I was starving all the time.

3. I Wouldn't Follow Random Meal Plans That Don't Work I followed every trending program (remember BBG?) and thought success meant sticking to the plan—no matter how unrealistic it was for my life or my body.

4. I Wouldn't Program-Hop Instead of Building Habits One week it was no sugar, the next it was Whole30. I was constantly chasing the next "perfect" plan but never building sustainable habits.

5. I Wouldn't Wait Way Too Long to Hire a Coach If I could go back, I would have found someone I trusted to cut through the BS and help me figure out what actually worked for me. Which is exactly what I now do with my 1:1 coaching clients! Coaching would’ve saved me so much time, stress, and second-guessing.

If your fitness journey feels confusing, overwhelming, or like a constant restart… it doesn’t have to be. You don’t need another extreme plan. You need a process that works with your life and a mindset that lasts.

Whether you're just starting out or you’ve been at this for years, I hope this episode gives you clarity—and a little permission to ditch the all-or-nothing approach.
